Founder Introduction

Ojick, Founder: Jung-min Shin

  • MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer): retired certification
  • MCDBA (Microsoft Certified Database Administrator): retired certification
  • Certified E-Commerce Manager, Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry

A complicated relationship with Microsoft, in other words. Comfortable working in Python and Flutter (UI), NestJS (Node.js backend), React (JavaScript UI), and MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and Firestore for databases.

For international marketing infrastructure: Cloud/VPS: AWS, GCP, Hetzner, netcup, Vultr. Server locations: Boston (USA), Malaysia, South Korea.

Both Microsoft certifications, earned over several years in my twenties at a cost of roughly $3,700 combined, were officially retired in 2020. It’s a little bittersweet to watch credentials you worked hard for fade into history. Still, the systems, server, and database experience from that period never really left.

A Note From the Founder

Good to meet you, even if only in writing.

The name Ojick comes from a Korean phrase meaning roughly “only one path: the path of .com.” I picked it in 2012 and I still like it. There have been plenty of setbacks and changes since, but the company is now in its 14th year.

Where We’re Headed

The biggest shift right now is AI. We’re building toward a SaaS product that combines marketing, software development, and AI: not just a marketing shop, not just a dev shop, but a company that understands marketing, builds its own tools, and applies AI to deliver the service.

Our next goal is to enter international marketing markets by 2027, combining the SEO and online marketing experience we’ve built in Korea with our development and AI work. We currently operate out of two offices, in Seoul and Busan, and we’ve cut back on sales meetings in favor of building product, watching how search engines change, and testing new tooling.

If you’re in the same line of work, you’re welcome to stop by the Busan office. I like talking about search algorithms and AI, and I’ll buy the coffee if the timing works. We’ll keep building SEO tools and studying how search and marketing keep changing. More than anything, we want to be a company that answers with results rather than promises.

Thank you to everyone who’s stuck with Ojick for 14 years. We’ll keep walking the one path.
